Ms. Samia Ahmed has over 17 years of experience working with various international NGOs both in-country and abroad, holding diverse positions across different organizations. For the past 10 years, she has been a senior management team member in multiple organizations.

Her professional expertise centers on women’s rights, child rights, gender-based violence (GBV), the vulnerability of women and children in climate change scenarios, emergency support from a human rights perspective, gender and GBV-related issues, PSEA, program design and implementation, and partnership management. She has also undertaken a special assignment serving women and children in conflict-affected areas of DR Congo.

Samia is an active member of several networks and alliances, including CiDV (Citizens’ Initiative Against Domestic Violence) and the WE CAN Campaign. She played a key role in advocating for the rights of acid survivors to live with dignity and in regulating the open market sale of acid in Bangladesh. As a representative of ActionAid Bangladesh, she was a member of the National Acid Control Committee, chaired by the Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).

She holds a Master’s in Economics from the University of Dhaka and a Master’s in Development Studies from Brac University.
