Sabekun Nahar

Trainee-Communication Officer

Wrangling commas by day and splotching paint by night, ASF’s communication officer Sabekun Nahar is an artist-writer responsible for writing and designing the foundation’s monthly digest Recap. She is a sophomore at the Asian University for Women in Chittagong, studying Politics Philosophy and Economics, and serves as the university’s writing center coordinator. Her passion for women empowerment, gender equity, and justice informs her work both inside and outside of ASF. Her poem Dholai and International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women artwork titled Orange have been published by shamataraal–a grassroots Organization in Bangladesh envisioning a gender-equal nation and AUW club women across borders respectively. In her free time, Azmi enjoys playing with words making children’s and sometimes radical rhymes addressing social issues, and creating mixed-media artwork both available for public view over Instagram.
