Representative: Naripokkho
Kamrun Nahar is a human rights lawyer who started her profession as an independent legal practitioner. She has worked with Naripokkho and Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service (RDRS) for the protection and promotion of human rights (HR) for last 27 years that includes implementing large scale legal aid programme, research on violence against women and children, advocacy for policy reform and formulation, capacity building training of judges, police, Doctors, government officials, development workers, lawyers etc.
As a member of Naripokkho, she took part in several initiatives and consultancies on HR, social development and gender that include movement against Acid violence, reporting on CWDAW regarding VAW etc.
She is the coordinator of “Capacity Building for claiming rights of Women and youth” project funded by Equality fund, Canada.
She is a working group member of Naripokkho’s program “Standing with Rohingya Women”, “Forgotten Women’71”, “War Child 71”.
She is the director of Naripokkho’s one program Strengthen the movements of Naripokkho and expanding the Outreach. Where the key activities include conceptual development of partner organisation, guide and assist to develop linkages/networking to strengthen women movements.
She is a technical committee member of Rape Law Reform Coalition (RLRC) of Bangladesh.
As a lawyer, she also provides legal advices and counselling to the clients.
Kamrun Nahar holds Bachelor and Masters in Law degree from the University of Rajshahi.
