Being one of the Founder Members of the Acid Survivors Foundation (ASF) and member of the trustee, Dr. Samanta Lal Sen is an eminent national plastic surgeon and burn specialist and administrator serving burn patients for over 30 years. Dr. Sen first encountered burn patients at close proximity in the 80s at the Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) and was appalled to witness the under treatment of burn patients. He sprang to action and appealed to the Government to help set up a 500-bed Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery and remained resilient to serve the burn patients. Following a long gruesome journey, Dr. Sen is now the National Chief Coordinator of plastic surgery and burn projects in Bangladesh, and a member of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Association of Pediatric Surgeons of Bangladesh, Society of Surgeon of Bangladesh (SOSB) & Bangladesh Society of Burn Injuries (BSBI).
