Tuhin Wadud, a lecturer of Bangla department, Motiur Rahman, associate professor of Management Department and more other students of Begaum Rokeya University at Rangpur were attacked by a group of outsider, allegedly Bangladesh Charta League activists as a sequel of clashes with burn injuries from battery acid on January 10, 2013. They were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital with burns to their eyes and faces. It is mentionable that the teachers and students in the university were on a movement demanding resignation of its vice-chancellor, accusing him of being corrupt. They had a sit-in programme scheduled for that day in front of the administration building. When they went there, they saw a stage with a chatra league banner for marking of the Home coming day of Bangabandhu Shekh Mujibur Rahman on Jan 10, 1972. The teachers and students then started to move towards the academic building but the unidentified young men ambushed them. The attackers vandalized the loudspeakers and destroyed its battery. The splashing battery acid got into the eyes of the two teachers and injured the others. BRAC sources said, being treated in outer edges of the two teachers' eyes and faces were burnt but they were out of danger now.
